Theft and graffiti in Beurling School sector
A few weeks ago, the area surrounding Beurling School was the object of a number of misdemeanors, including taxing taking place of students, during lunch and after hours.
Businesses in the area are also affected by what is going on. The park and the school are full of graffiti, despite numerous attempts to clean the area in the past.
This has obviously attracted the attention of the police, the borough, the school and the school board. Verdun's Station 16 wants local residents to know that a plan of action has been implemented to solve the problem in the long term.
Area residents have already noticed an increased presence of patrol cars and borough vehicles during lunch time and after school. The goal is to ensure a more extensive police presence, as well as make teenagers understand that certain behaviours will not be tolerated. There is also an effort taking place, instigated by citizens, aiming to identify the people who have committed robberies in some stores.
Meetings are currently taking place with students inside and out of the school, to prevent and eliminate such illegal activity and jointly reach alternative solutions.
The goal of such partnerships is to be able to offer a pleasant environment where everyone can co-exist. In order to accomplish this, police from Station 16 are asking residents in the area not to hesitate to contact them when they witness something illegal going on, day or night. All information provided to the police will remain confidential.
