Henri-Francois Gautrin speaks to Midi-Motivation audience
At a Midi-Motivation meeting, on February 1, at Crescendo restaurant, Verdun MNA and deputy minister, Henri-Francois Gautrin, paid tribute to the people who have made this borough the dynamic place that it now is.
Elected Liberal MNA, in 1989, Gautrin believes that this city (now a borough) has changed for the better, in the past 17 years. He attributes this change to the borough's dynamic business community and involvement of numerous people.

He specifically mentioned the involvement of two people: Dr. Roger Cadieux and former mayor, Georges Bossé.

"Dr. Cadieux realized, a long time ago, that people's health went hand in hand with an area's financial health and quality of life," stated Mr. Gautrin. It was with his guidance, that numerous structures and resources were put in place, allowing for greater financial development, in Verdun.

Speaking of Georges Bossé, Mr. Gautrin referred to him as a great leader throughout his political career and he cited as examples Verdun's urban plan for development on L'Ile-des-Soeurs and Verdun's strong presence on Montreal council.

The minister of government services stated that he always derived great pleasure from collaborating with dynamic people, such as Mr. Cadieux, former mayor Bossé and current mayor, Claude Trudel.
Ready for another mandate
Mr. Gautrin has already announced that he will be running in the next provincial election and offered a brief overview of the files he's been most involved in, among them the health file being the most important, citing the continued existence of the Verdun Hospital and the recent creation of the CSSS Sud-Ouest-Verdun.
Mr. Gautrin also spoke of the measures implemented by the business community, aimed at stimulating the economy, such as the creation of the Centre local de développement and the creation of many small and medium businesses in the borough.

The environment is also of great importance to him and he's pleased that the initiative that he had, years ago, to clean Verdun's waterfront annually, has been maintained.

Coming back to the topic of financial development, Mr. Gautrin emphasized the immense contribution of Asian immigrants, which today constitute an important part of the Verdun population. He stated that it was no longer strange to see posters within the borough, printed in French, English and… even Chinese!

In brief, Mr. Gautrin seems to be satisfied with the collaboration he has had over the years with some of Verdun's key players and he expects that he will continue to have their collaboration during his next mandate.
