HALLOWEEN ROUNDUP.
Halloween was also celebrated in style last week. First off at Riverview, it was those great pumpkin works of art that were on display down the main corridor and the must visit to the Haunted area in the gym which managed to get a few jumps out of your local reporter. Visitors had to walk into a darkened gym with a creepy guide called “Jennie” and up onto the stage. It was scary enough to make you do the Monster Mash, which turned out to be a real ‘Graveyard Smash.’.

Over at BA last Friday during the lunch hour, it was students and staff in their Halloween finest including a visit by the Village People and those twins, Mario and Luigi from that Nintendo Game, and a couple of students dressed up as ketchup and mustard shakers. The art teacher, Miss Linda Benjamin, well being art teacher has its advantages, so she was done up as a leopard. Teacher and championship touch football coach Jeff Dort along with lab technician Kevin Lariviere, keeping in mind that they like to see their name here in this column..(lol) were dressed up as tennis players. We hardly could recognize them.

And some students got lucky as a result of their winning the costume contests and won themselves a pair of tickets to go and see Michael Jackson’s This Is It, courtesy of Verdun School Express, which ensured them a Thriller of a weekend…

At BA, next Wednesday, their next big event takes on a more serious tone with the annual salute to our fallen heroes where the whole school will hold its Remembrance Day ceremonies in the morning, and we will be there to cover this very special event.

If you’re going to go to the Montreal Juniors hockey game on the 27th of this month against Gatineau at the Auditorium, then you’re in for a pleasant surprise as the school choir under the direction of music teacher Miss Jennifer has been invited to sing the National Anthem preceeding the game, and this puts another feather in the cap of high profile events for the VE music program. We will be on hand to cover this special event for the students.
