Music Recital Series at St. Clement’s Church
St. Clement's Anglican Church will be inaugurating their Spring Music Recital Series offering a total of 12 performances through to the end of June. Mr. Roland Graham, Founder and Artistic Director, and also Organist and Music Director at St. Clement's has organized a lineup of outstanding talent.
On Sunday, February 1st at 5:00 pm, there will be a Special Inaugural Concert Organ Recital by Matthew Larkin, Organist and Director of Music at Christ Church Cathedral in Ottawa. Mr. Larkin is well-known both as an organist and choral conductor having served in those positions at Churches across Canada for over 20 years. Mr. Graham promised that Mr. Larkin will have the church's organ, which is 85 years old, perform to its full capability.
On Saturday, February 7th at 3:00 pm, there will be a special performance as series launching concert by the Alaya String Quartet. Based in Montreal, the Alaya String Quartet is comprised of four young women, Brenna Hardy-Kavanagh, violin; Sonya Matoussova, violin/cello; Sheila Jaffe, violin; and Emilie Grimes, violin/viola. The four talented ladies are currently studying at the Université de Montréal.
As all the artists will be giving freely of their time to perform for us, the performance are being provided gratis. There will be a free will offering at each of the performances, with monies collected being given to the artists. The series will continue on Saturday, February 14th at 3 pm and then every second Saturday at 3 pm. St. Clement's Church is located at 4322 Wellington, corner of Gordon.<@$p>(Source: Jim Shepherd)
