BA Grad Wows The Crowd
Another Wellington Street Festival has come and gone, and for BA Grad Susan Young, it will be a memorable one. Susan was entered into the karaoke contest last June with the winner getting a one hour public gig in August. It was her first public gig.
MC Annie Comtois during her intros, recognized Susan as a pleasant discovery and acknowledged her talent, something which the BA community already knew, but as I have mentioned to Susan a few times on how good she is, and that it would just be a matter of time before everybody would find out. It would seem the genie is now out of the bottle, locally, at least.
Susan delivered 10 songs; including some familiar favorites like Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t make you love me” and “Something to talk About” and my faves sung by Susan, Norah Jones’ I Don’t know why” and that great Etta James classic, “At Last”
Susan also sang some new tunes like Shania’s I Feel like a Woman, and that 1968 R & B classic by Erma Franklin, “Piece of my Heart”. Sing it again, Susie Q.!
