Resurfacing of the collecting streets network
An investment of OVER $1,650,000.00
(PL) – Several projects for resurfacing pavements and sidewalks were announced by Sammy Forcillo, vice-president of the City of Montreal’s Executive Committee and Verdun Borough Mayor Claude Trudel. Mr. Forcillo is also in charge of finance, infrastructure, road systems and water management for the City of Montreal.
The streets covered in this programme will be Berlioz, Bannantyne, Verdun, chemin du Golf, and Ile-des-Sœurs and Champlain boulevards. The total investment for the project comes to more than $1,650,000.00. “Our administration has made a commitment to taxpayers to rehabilitate the metropolitan area’s road infrastructure and we have therefore invested close to $181 million this year, an unprecedented amount.”

“The work related to the collecting streets network in Verdun Borough lies within this perspective. This project, costing more than $1,650,000.00, forms part of the massive investment to be made which will allow us to compensate for the under-investment in the last few decades. With this we can offer our residents better streets and sidewalks, enabling them to get around in a safe and efficient manner”, said Mr. Forcillo.

“The re-paving of six principal roads in the collecting streets network is very important for us. Several of these streets constitute traffic hubs often used in our district. Other streets are located in L’Île-des-Sœurs, a flourishing sector”, Mayor Claude Trudel stated. “Be assured that everything will be implemented to diminish whatever inconveniences occur and to facilitate the commuting by the public during work at the sites”, the Mayor pointed out. The majority of these projects should be completed in 2008.
