Major work almost complete
Work progresses on Woodland Street
In spite of a rainy summer that paralysed the construction site several times, the deadline was met. During a press briefing at City Hall, René Jolicoeur and Guy Larocque of the Borough’s Technical Services Department gave an update on the resurfacing work of the street which began last May 29.
Unless circumstances dictate otherwise, the major work on Woodland Street should be finished by end-August. There is of course some electrical installations to be carried out such as street lighting; there is also some tree planting to be done. Just to give our readers an idea: sidewalks are 50% complete, aqueduct and sewers 85% complete, stone foundation of the street 80% complete, and the paving (basic layer) is 25% done.
André Savard, who is the Borough Councillor responsible for the project is monitoring the site closely and is appealing to all residents for their patience. They soon will have a brand new street!
Unless otherwise announced or weather conditions delay the work, Woodland Bridge will be closed to traffic from Monday, August 11 to Friday, August 15 to allow the connection of aqueduct and sewer pipes to the Canal above this Bridge.
