Quay adrift
(PL) – A resident informed Le Messager about the disappearance of a portion of a quay belonging to the Borough. This part of the quay is located behind the Natatorium, and was detached from its mooring lines two weeks ago. Blown by a current like a raft in trouble, the section was recovered and then stored by the contractor. This contractor is in charge of installation and maintenance of Verdun’s observation and recreational quays. To reassure pedestrians who pass through the area every day, this section of the quay should be replaced in the next few days as soon as the mooring lines have been checked and reinforced, if necessary.
Francine Morin, responsible for protocol and public relations of the Borough explained that all recovery operations for the quay are the contractor’s responsibility and not the Borough’s. This quay has an open work suspended roof and consists of benches and ramps from which walkers can have a view of the river. There are two quays of this type on the shore in Verdun. They are set up in the spring and then towed in the Fall for storage.
