Serge Laurendeau elected President of QPAT
(BD) - Serge Laurendeau, a native of Verdun and well-known member of the Woodland Tennis Club, will be leaving his responsibility as president of Pearson Teachers Union to become the president of QPAT, The Quebec Provincial Association of Teachers. He was elected by acclamation on February 29 and will be starting his new mandate on July 1, 2008 and will now be representing all the teachers of the 9 English school boards across Québec. Mr. Laurendeau will also be a representative on the Canadian Teachers Federation. In a statement, Mr. Laurendeau mentions that he is looking forward to this new challenge as the 08-09 school year will be a crucial year to prepare the consultation for the next round of provincial negotiations for teachers.
