Approximately 800 people participate in waterfront clean-up
A new record was established, during the 16th edition of the waterfront clean-up, on L'Ile-des-Soeurs and Verdun's mainland, when approximately 800 people took part in the annual event.
Young and old responded with enthusiasm to the invitation of members of the Verdun council, MNA Henri-Francois Gautrin and the Verdun Embellishment Committee, and picked up everything they could find, littering the waterfront, the cycling paths and the green spaces of our borough.
The extent of the clean-up was such, that perhaps it merits a new name, since it's certainly not limited to the waterfront anymore.
There's no denying that Mother Nature had a big hand to play in the incredible success of this year's operation. Blue skies, sunshine and ideal temperatures greeted the volunteers and by early afternoon, everyone could state: "Mission accomplished".
It's a testament to the participants that the event was such a success and the organizers thank them wholeheartedly for their enthusiasm and their hard work.
