VERDUN SCHOOL NEWS
A HAPPY AGUILERA WINNER:It was a joy to see and hear as BA student Chanelle Kendle got the prize. After Chanelle’s name being drawn by VP Dona Bianchi and the name being announced on the PA, we could hear the footsteps running on the way to the office as she had to see if it was true. Well it was, as Chanelle got to see Christina Aguilera in concert this past Wednesday courtesy of Verdun School News and the Bell Centre. We thank all those who entered and so do all the grads.
MOVIE WINNERS
We also had three winners in our latest movie contest. Going to see the advance screening of “Firehouse Dog” this Monday night courtesy of Verdun School News and 20 Century Fox Pictures are: Lori King of Egan Avenue, Violet Doyle of Riverview Avenue, and Jennifer Holmes-Paxton of Argyle Avenue. We would like to thank all those who called in and keep reading as you never know when we get movie passes as the postman only rings once. For these winners, it pays to read the Messenger.
RIVERVIEW
With end of year activities and field trips soon upon many schools, fund-raising activities also get into high gear. Riverview is no exception and the good folks at Home and School have some dates for you to circle on your calendar. The next fund-raiser bingo is on Saturday, April 21st and on Saturday, May 12th, it is time to eat out and leave the cooking to someone else, as this is the date for the next Spaghetti dinner.
The Easter Raffle is now on with the draw this Thursday. What can you win you ask? Three lucky winners will win Easter baskets filled with a 5-lb Hershey chocolate bar, a stuffed teddy bear and other assorted goodies. Tickets are only 50 cents each and you’re welcome to drop by the school during regular hours to buy all the tickets you want. It will sure make the Easter bunny hop with joy!
Last, but not least, the students will be served breakfast by special visitors this Thursday by none other than the Alouettes cheerleaders, compliments of the Quebec Breakfast Club. I think I might just be available for this one. It would seem this Thursday will be busy at the school, with the Easter bonnet contest also being held.
