Line-Dancing is back at DAWSON
Dawson Community Centre is bringing back Line-Dancing this Spring for adults of intermediate level. Tuesday mornings 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., from March 27 to May 29, Ten weeks at $ 35.00 for 14 students or more. We have a membership card of $ 10.00, good for one year. Teacher Denyse Crête is bilingual and strong of 13 years of experience with Santé-Danse association, and ten summers at the Verdun boardwalk. For the Spring session we also offer: Low-Impact Aerobics , Monday and Thursday morning starting April 2. Intro to Computers (Windows & Word) and Intro to the Internet starting April 1 the ‘’Verdun-Memories’’ oral-history program is ongoing until June. The Walk-Club will come back from May to September. RFL Softball League
The Riverside Friendship League (RFL) is a recreational, non profit, mixed softball league for adults over the age of 25. We play on week nights in the West Island and LaSalle. Annual Tartan Day
The Scottish Centre of Montreal will be hosting their 2nd Annual Tartan Day Social on Saturday, April 7th, 2007 starting 7:00 p.m. Tickets at the cost of $10.00 are available by calling 514-366-0708. «Verdun Memories» at DAWSON Centre
Dawson Community Centre (666 Woodland, Verdun) is offering a new series of free workshops for seniors entitled «Verdun-Memories». Through guided tours and talks led by Kathryn Harvey, historian and former resident of Verdun, the program seeks to encourage the exchange of stories about Verdun’s past. Douglas Hospital
The Volunteer Auxiliary of the Douglas Hospital urgently needs responsible members of our community to assist a team of dedicated volunteers in a Snack Bar available to staff and patients. We need volunteers to assist any day, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. No previous experience is necessary, just a desire to share and respect the members of your community. In return we offer a dynamic and supportive environment, and an opportunity to share of yourselves in providing an enhanced "Quality of Life" to those suffering from Mental Illness. Moving Ahead
If you are a compassionate, sincere person who could give one or more hours a week towards improving the quality of someone's life, the "Moving Ahead" program of the Douglas Hospital would welcome you. A few individuals who have a mental illness and who reside in our foster homes in Verdun would greatly benefit from the regular visit of a friend to help them break their isolation. Douglas Hospital, volunteer wanted
We are looking for a bilingual volunteer to organize a sewing and quilting activity for several of our elderly patients. This person must be patient, interested in the elderly, available from 10:30 to noon Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, and willing to share her expertise and experience.
