Verdun Mayor Borough Claude Trudel was glad
CMHC's EQuilibrium Selects Verdun
Construction of an energy self-sufficient home
Verdun Mayor Borough Claude Trudel wants to express heartfelt congratulations to the ÉcoCité-Sodero team, on its project to build an ecological and energy-efficient home, as part of EQuilibrium, a Canada-wide sustainable housing competition organized by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).
The ÉcoCité-Sodero team was awarded $50,000 by the CMHC to help it build a healthy, energy-efficient demonstration home in the Wellington-de l’Église neighbourhood.
From the start of the process, the Verdun Borough's Direction de l’Aménagement urbain et des Services aux entreprises supported the EcoCité-Sodero group in the steps it took to enter the CMHC competition. "The urban planners and engineers in our Borough invested time and energy in the project and didn't hesitate to play an active role in the various design stages, in order to increase the chances of carrying out this project, which banks on the Borough's environmental values," pointed out Mr. Trudel.
Over the coming weeks, the project will be submitted, for examination, to the urban planning advisory committee, for subsequent recommendation to Borough Council. Details of the housing project will be announced once the Site Planning and Architectural Integration Program (SPAIP) is adopted.
