A HAPPY ROD STEWART WINNER
We would like to congratulate Linda Stephens on being the lucky winner of the recent Rod Stewart Raffle at Beurling Academy, as Linda was happy to be “Rockin in the Round” with Rod the Mod at the Bell Centre. Verdun School News and the BA Grad committee would like to thank all those who bought raffle tickets to get their chance to win a pair of tickets, and $1100 was raised towards grad activities. Don’t despair, though. We’ve got more great concert news for you.
Christina Aguilera will be in concert at the Bell Centre for the first time on March 28th and we have a pair of prime centre red tickets for you to win. How you ask? We’ve teamed up once again with the BA Grad Committee to present the Christina Aguilera Raffle.
Tickets are 1 for $2, 3 for $5, 10 for $5, and a super-pack of 30 for $10 and will be drawn at the school on March 23rd. Contact any BA student or their parents to buy ticket. @ST:BEURLING ACADEMY
The Bantam Girls Division 1 Basketball team was in playoff action this past Tuesday at PCHS and lost a squeaker 42-41 and almost won in the dying seconds as a BA throw saw the ball line the rim and would have allowed BA to advance if it only would have fallen in. To the whole team, though, thanks for a great season.
Student exchanges are becoming an important part of the school experience, and BA has been accepted to do just that with a school in Saskatchewan, and lucky students from Secondary 3 to 5 are busily getting ready to leave this coming Saturday to spend March break in the middle of the Prairies, and students from the same school will be visiting us during the second week of April.Bon Voyage!
The March break soon coming upon us, it must be Spirit Week at the school. The week will be filled with activities during lunchtime to culminate with a day of events on Friday, such as: Sugaring Off, Bowling, Rollerblading, and an Amazing Race. To all students and teachers, have a wonderful Spirit Week.
RIVERVIEW
From Librarian Jennifer Holmes, we get the winners of the lunchtime book club for the month of January for having read 20 books. They are:Garima Saini, Jasmina Constantine, and Ross Paraskevopoulos. Great Reading Everybody!
WORLD VISION
During the next School Board Council Meeting Monday night, there will be a presentation of plaques from World Vision Quebec to 4 LBPSB high schools, including Beurling Academy for their contribution to the 30 hour-famine last spring. The schools raised $15,000, including about $4,000 from BA. The plaques will be presented to each Principal and the Commissioner for that school. We will be on hand for that event. HAVE A GREAT WEEK.
