Verdun School News
GOOD MORNING/AFTERNOON. We would like to express our regrets concerning the photo that ran with the Verdun E. Hard Rock Café article. It seems there was a bug in the photo and the wrong picture ran. We regret any inconvenience it may have caused, and shown this week is one that should have run.
REGISTRATION TIME
It’s that time of the year; once again, as schools of the LBPSB have begun the process of registering students for the various schools for the 2007-08 year and the three Verdun area schools are no exceptions. This past week Grade 6 students going to high school next year had their forms distributed.
Re-registration forms for current students in Kindergarten thru Grade 5 and Secondary 1 to 4 will b sent out during the week of Feb. 19th.
Registration for Kindergarten and all new students to the Board will take place this week thru Feb. 9th. Parents must bring the child’s long form birth certificate (contains parents’ names), proof of residency and the eligibility of a sibling or parent for English education.
PLEASE NOTE: For parents of students in the pre-k program which is housed in the Verdun Elementary building, you have a choice of registering in the Kindergarten program of either Riverview School or Verdun Elementary and must follow the usual registration procedures during the week of Feb. 5th to register in either school.

A 24-inch TV is one of the 2 grand prizes along with an MP3 player, which is also a photo viewer. Ticket cost is the usual $10.00 in advance and $12.00 at the door. There will also be door prizes, a canteen for refreshments and, of course, your chance to win some cold hard cash with the half and half draw. See you at the bingo.
It was also another successful Open House last week as visitors were greeted by Victor Guerriero and the students from his guitar and vocal club singing various tunes such as Motown’s “Ain’t no Mountain High enough”. Ten it was on to the visit the school for parents looking at Riverview as an option for the next school year.
And from the library, the lunchtime book club winners for books read in December are: Sarimi Saini, August Darey, and Autumn Darey. HAVE A NICE WEEK.
