«Verdun Memories » at Dawson Centre
Dawson Community Centre (666 Woodland Ave.) is offering a new series of workshops for seniors entitled « Verdun-Memories ». Through guided tours and talks led by Kathryn Harvey, historian and former resident of Verdun, the program seeks to encourage the exchange of stories about Verdun’s past. Participants will be invited to bring their pictures, objects and memories with the intention of creating a visual and oral record that can be shared with today’s youth and future generations.

It is FREE and you can join at any time. The first workshop begins Feb. 1st with a visit to the exhibition “Growing up in Montreal,� at the McCord Museum. A bus will leave Dawson Community Centre at 1:30 p.m. For more information, please call Marc Paradis at 514-767-9967
Moms & Tots
We are open for another session. Openings are available for all ages of children 0 to 5 years old. Parents are welcome too! Workshops for parents, great play and learning experience for children and babies. Don't let the winter blows get to you, come join our group and meet new people. Seniors at Dawson
Dawson Community Centre offers to adults 50-plus a wide choice of activities for the Winter session starting January 15. Registration is ongoing. For your health, we have Line-Dancing , Yoga, Low-Impact Aerobics and the new STEP-UP program to improve your balance and prevent falls (2 mornings). For culture and education, we have a Computer Course and an Internet Course designed for seniors and the new ‘’Verdun-Memories’’ program. Tours and Talks with an historian starting February 1st, and a chance to share and leave your stories and testimonials on tape. For seniors with light mobility problems we have a bus service to a Grocery store, IGA-Champagne on Bannantyne . Scottish Centre
The Scottish Centre of Montreal will be holding its monthly Gordonians' Whist on Wedneday, January 17th starting at 1:00 p.m. The cost is $2.50 with refreshnments being served. The Scottish Centre is located at 1610 Stephens St., Verdun, corner of Champlain Telephone number is 514-365-9185.

Volunteer needed
John is a middle aged Anglophone gentleman, quiet and somewhat reserved, who is presently hospitalised. He would like a male volunteer who could accompany him on outings to help prepare him for his reintegration into the community. John’s previous volunteer moved and he misses the activities which they used to do together. If you are interested to be a friendly visitor to John, and have 1-2 hours a week to spend with him, please call the Volunteer Department at the Douglas Hospital at (514) 761-6131, ext. 2263.

Les Services d’Intégration Professionnelle Carrefour Jeunesse-emploi de Verdun is now offering free services to Anglophone residents of Verdun between the ages of 16 and 35.

Job Training Program
The LaSalle Adult Education Centre-Verdun Access-to-Work Pavilion located at 1050 Fifth Ave. in Verdun, offers a free Job Training Program for adults with or without Secondary V.
