You may know him as Dr. Jay, West Island dentist, but Jay McMullan is former defense partner with Detroit Coach Mike Babcock, and he's thrilled the coach is going to his lucky tie for Game 1 against the Penguins. McMullan tells me, tongue planted firmly in cheek, he knew Babcock would go on to a career in coaching cuz he was always making comments and trying to coach him during their playing days!

Doc McMullan was part of a McGill alumni group from the Redmen that visited Babcock when the Ducks went to the Stanley Cup final but they didn't bring any luck...the Devils won that game. Better luck this time Dr. Jay, and don't forget to pack YOUR McGill tie.

Alouettes veterans have only one full weekend of freedom left. Players are buzzing about NFL veteran assistant Marc Trestman's approach...tougher, more physical certainly than camps under "The Don" recently and even Jim Popp last year.

Former Als linebacker Duane Butler cruised into Montreal this week, talking up a football camp in Detroit he wants to bring some serious high-school or CEGEP players to next month.

Good luck to Pascal Vincent, the new dual-role Coach and GM of Les Juniors, the new kids on the Q-league block. Vincent was centreman with the Laval Titans back in the day...loyal wingman was Martin Lapointe. But don't be expecting Vincent to cheer Red Wings in the Cup final just because of the pride of Ville St. Pierre's past glories. Their coach in Laval was a fiery guy named Therrien. Yes THAT Therrien. Vincent also groomed Marc-Andre' Fleury for the NHL, coaching him at Cape Breton in the junior ranks.
