Royal Canadian Legion Verdun
April 27/08, Sunday : Annual Ypres Parade & Service. The Hall will be open at 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm. The Cenotaph Service takes place at 2:00 pm, followed by a short March. Members that are participating are to wear legion dress uniform & medals to be worn. OPEN HOUSE after the parade music by Duo Rockin. All are welcome to come!!
Spring rummage sale
South West Mission (United Church of Canada) are holding a spring rummage sale till May 2 – Monday to Friday – 10:00 am– 3:00 pm. The Misson is located in the Verdun Elementary school, Melrose and Verdun ave. Entrance – Clothes for everyone – white elephant and tea room. Please come and see us!
Free French courses for immigrants
The Carrefour interculturel de Verdun, in collaboration with the ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés culturelles, offers free French courses for immigrants living in Canada for less than 5 years. Registrations are by appointment only and the spring session started on April 7 and ends on June 18 (daytime and evening schedule). Possibility of a financial aid for daycare. Every Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., you are invited to practice your spoken French with a group of open-minded and curious women at the Centre des femmes de Verdun (Verdun women’s center). The Champlain Adult Education Centre-Verdun Access-to-Work Pavilion (located at 1050 Fifth Avenue in Verdun), offers a free Job Training Program for adults with or without Secondary V. Last chance to register, Thursday, May 1st from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.. at Beurling Park – chalet Beurling St., corner of Brown. House League - $90 with Accès Verdun card / $100 without U13 & U18 Div.3 (elite) - $110 with Accès Verdun card / $120 without.
Boys and girls born in 1995 who wish to sign up for U13 Div.3 (elite) must register no later than May 1st (final date) to be part of the tryout evaluations May 3rd & 4th.
