St. Patrick's Day parade : Verdun will be represented
As every year, the Verdun Borough will be well represented in the St. Patrick's Day parade, which will start at noon on Sunday, March 16, in downtown Montréal.
Borough Mayor Claude Trudel and his team of Councillors will be in the first row along the parade route on rue Sainte-Catherine to wave to the crowd and distribute candies in Ireland's colours to the spectators on hand.

This year, Verdun's procession will feature our famous “balade” (our legendary sightseeing car) and a float decorated with the attire of a perfect Irish gentleman: top hat, white gloves and—of course—the indispensable cane. A giant aerial map representing the three neighbourhoods of Verdun will identify our borough.
Invitation to Verdunites
Verdunites, both big and small, are invited to come out and brave the cold—even if winter should decide to linger around that day—and to line the parade route to applaud and wave to the parade participants. And, above all, to admire the many floats that will be passing by.
Verdun, the Irish community's land of welcome
Verdun has always been recognized for its warm welcome. Many Irish people, several generations ago, therefore chose to come and settle here. Still today, the Verdun Borough can take pride in having one of the largest Irish communities in Greater Montréal among its population. And we're very proud of that.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all the Gallaghers, Quinns, Gregorys, O’Reillys and other Irish families in our community as well as to all those who will discover some Irish roots for the occasion. Sunday, March 16 will be a festive day. Join in the celebrations!
