The Junior de Montreal hockey team lost the first match in its history last September 12 to the Remparts de Québec who won 5-1 at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec. In Verdun, the men of Pascal Vincent will again challenge the team of Patrick Roy on Saturday night in a revenge match which will revive the Quebec / Montreal rivalry in this colourful but highly competitive sport. Patrick Roy’s reputation is strong, and his hockey sweater will be raised at the Bell Centre in a few weeks. He’s a ferocious enemy who enjoys a long and impressive experience in the field of hockey.
Note that the Junior will play their second match at home against the Huskies of Rouyn-Noranda on Sunday, the 21st of September at 16h30. Watch out for the action as well at the Auditorium next week while the Montreal team will host the Seadogs of St.John’s on Friday, the 26th of September and the Olympiques of Gatineau on Sunday, the 28th of September.
After an absence of five seasons in the island of Montreal, the return of the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec (LHJMQ) to the metropolitan city will be an event in the annals of junior hockey this autumn. An established team aspiring for the MasterCard Memorial Cup, the Junior of Montréal is a hard core of talented players under a team of seasoned trainers, of whom Pascal Vincent is the cornerstone. In spite of the absence of a few players who were called to the training camp of the National League teams, optimism nevertheless reigns at the Junior de Montréal. The Verdun Auditorium was recently renovated to welcome the team and will serve as the home base of the Junior. The excitement is at its peak not only among the players but also among their supporters.
