Major Roadwork on Rue Rolland

Verdun Borough Mayor Claude Trudel is proud to announce roadwork on the portion of rue Rolland between boulevard Champlain and rue Beurling. "This major roadwork, which is part of our Capital Expenditure Program, demonstrates our will to continue protecting our existing infrastructures or to rebuild them where necessary," pointed out Mayor Trudel.

With an estimated completion in 8 weeks' time, this roadwork—which began on August 25—includes the replacement of the water main, water and sewage pipes and the reconstruction of sidewalks and the roadway.

During certain phases of the work, the contractor will be posting temporary signs prohibiting parking on both sides of the street. As a temporary measure, parking will be authorized at all times, on both sides of rue Stephens and rue Valiquette, between boulevard Champlain and rue Beurling. From August 25 to October 17, 2008 inclusively, the Borough therefore won't be issuing any statements of offence in relation to the Bylaw governing the regular signs concerning maintenance on these streets.

The 12 bus that travels back and forth over the area will be detoured as the roadwork progresses. Signs will indicate the current detours. Similarly, mail delivery may be interrupted while the work is under way. If necessary, residents will be asked to pick up their mail at the Canada Post postal station at 530 rue de l’Église.

The Verdun Borough is urging residents to be extra careful while the roadwork is ongoing.
