We are delighted to be back for a seventh school season letting you in on the excitement of the various programs of the various schools, we have BA student features already lined up, student achievements, sports events, fund-raising events, etc.
And yes we will have movie pass giveaways, but don’t ask about Harry Potter, it’s been moved to July from this November, but are you ready for some “Twilight” and be there during “The Day the Earth Stood Still”. Oops, was that a clue. Stay tuned and happy reading!
Well, it’s just about ready. As we met with the local administrators this week, including BA’s Mr. Abracen, we were invited to take a tour of the building inside and what great work.
The floors in the hallways and classrooms have been given a nice new shine, the classrooms are bright again with those new windows and new blinds to go with them, the new security doors, both in and out ready to open, and a new fence separating the yard with the Park is up with a new student entrance in the middle. The lower gym also has been given a new lowered ceiling. This crown jewel of the Board has finally had some major work done and the students are the winners.
The first day will be a shortened one with the Sec 1 students reporting for 8:45 to the lower gym to get their schedules and go to their homeroom after. Afterwards around 11:10 they will be treated to BBQ hot dog lunch and juice with some of the school’s celebrity chefs and dismissal at 12:30.
Te Sec 2 thru 5 students will report between 12:35 and 1 to the lower gym to get their schedules, after which they will go to their home room to meet their teacher with dismissal at 3:30.
At Riverview in their 80th year, new Principal Deborah Gross and her staff are also ready for Tuesday. The day begins at 7:55am, with lunch at 11:30 and end of the day is 2:25pm. School fees are $ 50.00, lunch fees are $30.00 per month, and September fees are due with registration (for more information on lunch or daycare call 514-762-2717 and Rena Walters). All children must be registered in the lunch or daycare program to be eligible to stay for the lunch hour.
From Home and School, we have a tentative schedule of the many activities planned this year and we should all be in for a treat and we’ll keep you posted thru the year.
Over at Verdun Elementary, things have been busy as well with a new private daycare to be occupying space soon; some offices and other rooms have had to be relocated in the spacious building. As well, up in Miss Jennifer’s music area on the top floor in the Music Hallway and Dance Room, the walls have been given a fresh coat of paint in the form of decorative art painted by some VE students with the help of students from Lakeside Academy. It is really colorful. HAVE AGREAT WEEK AND A GREAT SCHOOL YEAR.
