WOW has quickly become a tween and teen super phenomenon. In six short months, the group has made an impact on the pop music scene, quickly selling out their concert performances. They have been performing to upwards of 8,000 people from Montreal to Japan, New York to Los Angeles and everywhere else in between. The boys, known for their bright colors, eccentric style and hypnotic energy, has set them apart from other bands.
BA, which was one of three schools visited on this day, lucked out as the school was chosen as part of an email web campaign to have the guys show up for an autograph and photo session. As soon as Admin Assistant Andrew Henry gave the word to open the doors of the auditorium, it was a mad rush to the stage, and with that, a quick intro by Mr. Henry, the guys sang a short song a cappella, which was followed by the meet and greet and the ladies of BA got the chance to get up close and personal and have some face time with their newest musical heroes, and, of course, a lot of pictures were taken, and they were gracious in taking time to briefly chat with the students.
Even Andrew Henry, who couldn’t resist the excitement of the moment, also got to take a group picture with the group, but there is no truth to the rumor that he was seen signing autographs outside his office the next day. So wow, what an afternoon!
And speaking of getting wowed, are you ready for Bon Jovi? Let me guess, you can’t get tickets. Well, we have a pair of prime red tickets 3 sections over from the stage to award for their Saturday, March 20th show. How you ask? We’re teaming up with the grad class of 2010 to raffle off these tickets courtesy of Verdun School Express and the Bell Centre. We will be drawing during the parent-teacher interview evening on Thursday, Feb.4th. We will be there from 4 to 5 and from 7 to 9, so drop by and try your luck. Tickets are 5 for $5.00 or 20 for $10.00, and you can also call the Verdun School Express hotline at 766-8232 and we’ll take care of you to help purchase raffle tickets. Good Luck to all.
From Miss Amanda Liste, we hear the holiday card campaign went well, and approximately 120 boxes were sold for a little over 1500$. Needless to say with the economy sluggish and the student population slightly down, card sales were lower this year, however all profits after production costs, will be donated to the Free the Children Clean Drinking Water component.
The exact countries are not known at this point. It is at the discretion of the organization. We have been asked to thank to all those who supported the project by the purchase of cards or the donation of funds. Special thanks go to the grade eight IBO classes for making the cards and of course, a big thanks to Mr. Ian Alexander for overseeing the project with Miss Liste. The top sellers were Kara Brown and Cristin Rehel.
